8229 BRIDGE

IBM
The 8229 bridge is a functional enhancement and replacement to the 8209 bridge, as of July 1994. The enhancements to the 8229 include
modular design, rack mountable, flash memory for code downloading, increased media speed, enhanced management and the addition of a
WAN bridge. The bridge comes in three models, with connection of either two local Token Ring, a local Token Ring and a local Ethernet, or
a two remote Token Ring over a Wide Area Network at speeds up to T1/E1. The enhanced management provides the ability to be managed
via either IBM LAN Network Manager (LNM) or a ANMP manager such as IBM AIX Netview/6000.
