Balun stands for BALanced/UNbalanced and is measured in ohms. A balun is an
impedance
matching transformer. It is a passive device that converts the impedance of coaxial cable
so that
its signal can run on twisted pair wiring, however, the signal can not transmit as far on
twisted
pair. A Media Filter converts a Token Ring DB9 connection to a UTP RJ11
or RJ45
