> To connect the transceiver to a MSAU ring-out or lobe port use a cross-pinned cable.
> To connect the transceiver to a MSAU ring-in port or to a NIC (network interface card)
with a RJ45 jack use a straight pinned cable.

NOTE: If you have a Type-1 NIC the DB-9 transceiver plugs directly in.
